WVAH Fox 11 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Got a question? Read over our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). Chances are we've got an answer for you online.

Where can I write or call WVAH?
Addresses, phone numbers and email addresses are all located in our About WVAH Fox 11 web page.

When is the Kids Club Expo?
The final Kids Club Expo was held in 2003. There are currently no plans to conduct another Kids Club Expo.

I see lots of the same programs and people on WVAH and WCHS. Do you own channel 8?
WVAH is licensed by Cunningham Broadcasting Corporation. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (SBG) owns most of the facilities of WVAH Fox 11. Sinclair Broadcast Group operates WVAH Fox 11 under a Local Management Agreement. SBG owns WCHS-TV and their license. Since both stations are owned or managed by the same company you get more than either station alone can provide since both stations work together.

When will you "go digital."
The national digital transition is complete and we are digital (DTV) now! We provide our full power DTV signal 24 hours a day. We also provide you with High Def (HDTV) whenever FOX or one of other program suppliers provides it to us. DTV and HDTV is available free, over-the-air. Various cable or satellite providers may or may not pass on our digital signal. Check with your cable or satellite company.

So what is the deal with HDTV?
HDTV is just one aspect of digital television. Sinclair Broadcast Group, is very bullish on both DTV and HDTV. Because HDTV is one of the most exciting aspects of digital television we have created a HDTV FAQ that will help answer all your questions.

How can I purchase all or part of a Eyewitness newscast?
Sorry but we can't provide copies of stories or newscasts for legal reasons. We require a subpoena of our news material for it to leave WCHS/WVAH. There are companies in our area that routinely record all local station newscasts and sell "dubs" of the material. One such company is "Ad-Mix" in Charleston at 304-720-6800. There are other companies too. A tip to save you some money: once a big local story gets into the news cycle, it frequently runs on FOX 11 News at 10 or Eyewitness News at 11pm. If the story breaks at night, it will frequently be repeated on the following morning's Good Morning West Virginia at 5:00 AM on WCHS.

The newscast said to come to the web site for a link. Where do I find it?
Our Newscast Scripts section contains this information. You can access it from the Home Page or in the Newsroom.

I'd love to work as a reporter or photographer. Where can I apply for a job?
Check the JOBS section of our corporate web site. The list of currently open jobs is updated frequently. Each job opening has specific requirements and contact information listed with the job.

Our organization is having an event. How can I get news coverage of it?
E-mail us at news@wvah.com; call us at 304-345-4115; mail us at Eyewitness News, 1301 Piedmont Road, Charleston, WV 25301. You can also fax us at 304-345-1849.

I'm a student and want to be an intern at your station. Who do I contact?
Please use the Jobs @ TV8 & FOX11 link to apply on-line for an Intern position. If your background/interests match what we are looking for, you will be contacted for an interview. An internship is an ideal way to get a job in the industry as well as to receive academic credit.

How can I send email to a reporter or anchor directly?
In the Newsroom you will find a link to Personality Profiles for each anchor. Their direct email address is listed along with their biography information. If you have a question or comment about a news story, we encourage you to email the reporter directly.

Where can I get more information about my favorite show?
Be sure to check our SHOWS pages. There is a link at the top of every page on the site to the shows section. We include all the information we have available on each show. If the info you are searching for is not on the web page for the program, we generally don't have that info available to us.

I am a satellite subscriber and I need a waiver from your station in order to receive it. How do I get a waiver?
WVAH Fox11 is carried on both DirecTV and DISH satellite services. If you live in the Charleston-Huntington TV market you can subscribe without a waiver.

There was a special program on and I missed it. Can I get a tape of the show?
With very few exceptions, video tapes of programs are not available. FOX programs are owned by the production company. Our agreement with FOX only allows us to broadcast the program. We do not record FOX program nor can we offer videotape copies of the programs to the public. Likewise with syndicated programming. The owner of the program is the producer or production company. Our purchase of the program only grants us the right to broadcast the show not distribute videotapes. Our recommendation is to locate a friend or family member who taped the show when it aired.

Some of the bigger made for television movies and mini-series come out on videotape 6 months to a year after broadcast. You should check with your local video store for rental or purchase availability.

Can I buy merchandise from my favorite Fox show?
You can get the latest Fox Primetime and Fox Sports merchandise online at the FOX Store at www.fox.com.

How can I get tickets to a taping of my favorite Fox primetime show?
Drama programs are always closed sets and do not allow audiences to view while filming. Most sitcoms welcome audiences. When your plans to visit the Los Angeles area are confirmed, call Audiences Unlimited at 1-818-753-3470 for tickets. Or you can visit their website at www.tvticket.com.

How can I contact my favorite show/celebrity?
See our Program Contacts Information page for addresses where you can write.

Where can I find employment opportunities at WVAH Fox 11?
Employment opportunities can be found as part of our Jobs area, located on left navigation menu on the home page and other pages.
